24‑Hour Train Record

A Chinese train lover has set a new Guinness World Record for the“greatest distance traveled by train in 24 hours”. He traveled 5,887.76 km by train in 24 hours! This record can be found on the official WeChat account of Guinness World Records.

In February, Wang Dong traveled from Shenzhen to Beijing, then to Shanghai, Guiyang, and finally Yibin, all in 24 hours. When he arrived in Yibin, only 40 seconds were left! Wang planned his journey carefully. He needed to change trains in four cities. The most stressful moment was in Beijing. He had only 31 minutes to change the train from Beijing West Station to Beijing South Station by subway. Although his train arrived 3 minutes late, he finally made it in 22 minutes. Another challenge came at the end of the journey. His first train left one minute early, so the 24-hour clock started earlier. The last train, D5122, was delayed and arrived two minutes late. Even so, Wang still had 40 seconds left! Wang said China's high-speed trains helped him succeed. The first record was set in the UK in 1992, with a distance of 2,842.5 km. Since 2019, all new records have been set in China.
