On April 1, Artemis II' s Orion spaceship flew off into space for a trip around the Moon. Inside were four astronauts and a small soft toy named Rise. The little toy had a simple, but important job. It floats(飘浮) when the spaceship reaches zero gravity(重力). The astronauts see it float and know it is safe to unbuckle(解开) their seat belts.
Rise is the idea of Lucas Ye, an eight-year-old second grader.
Rise is small and white in the shape of the Moon. It wears a baseball hat with planet pictures.
As a reward for his winning design, Lucas and his family got to attend the Artemis II launch at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre.
The tradition of using stuffed toys as visual zero-gravity indicators (指示器) began with former Soviet astronaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space.
Since then, astronauts often take soft toys into space.
